"Turkey's Information Source TURKSTAT" Conference was Held at Our University

The conference titled "Turkey's Information Source TURKSTAT (Turkish Statistical Institute)" organized by the Faculty of Science of our University was held online. Moderated by Prof. Dr. TURKSTAT Vice President Yusuf Gökhan Özbakış attended the conference held by H. Hasan Örkcü.

The opening speech of the program was delivered by our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız did. Stating that the events organized for the 95th anniversary of our university continue at full speed, Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that the Faculty of Science also supported these activities with the activities it organized. Prof. Dr. MusaYıldız stated that our university has a very strong Statistics Department. Stating that he closely follows the activities of TURKSTAT, our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said that the activities between the two institutions continue. Our Rector thanked Yusuf Gökhan Özbakış, who attended the conference as a speaker, and those who contributed to the organization of the conference.

Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Suat Kıyak stated that they continue to organize activities such as conferences and science talks within the Faculty and that such activities are important in terms of social development and sharing the knowledge produced with the society. Prof. Dr. Suat Kıyak, our Rector Prof. Dr. He also thanked Musa Yıldız.

TÜİK Vice President Yusuf Gökhan Özbakış started his presentation by giving information about the activities of TÜİK. Referring to the fact that TURKSTAT is an important and deep-rooted institution in Turkey, Özbakış said that they will continue to cooperate with our university. Yusuf Gökhan Özbakış explained that statistics are important for societies to see, plan and develop their future.

Özbakış also gave information about the historical process of statistics in our country. He explained that the institution, which was established as the Central Statistics Office in 1926, was renamed the State Statistics Institute (DIE) in 1962 and the Turkish Statistical Institute in 2005. After the presentation of Yusuf Gökhan Özbakış, the conference ended with a question and answer session.
