The Department of Statistics at Gazi University in 1982 had taken place as a whole part in Faculty of Arts and Sciences. With the separation of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 2011, the Department of Statistics takes part in the Faculty of Sciences. With a core faculty of 23 academician and it has also 15 Teaching Assistants who are graduate students. The graduate program leads to a Master of Science, Doctorate. The undergraduate program leads to Associate Degree and Bachelor of Science. The main language of instruction is Turkish. Each year, 180 undergraduate students of whom 90 in the normal, and the other 90 students in the evening education program with the same training program are accepted into the department. Since 2010-2011 academic years, compulsory English preparatory grade has started for the students in the normal program. Students who pass the English exemption exam can directly begin first grade. For the normal program student, minimum credits required for graduation: 143 credits (except for English preparatory ). 30% of the total 143 credits are required to take classes in English. For the evening education program students, minimum credits required for graduation: 143 credits (of whom 12 credits include English classes) Practicum of courses is conducted in two computer laboratories. Elective courses determined in a wide diversity from environmental sciences to economics aim to contribute to students' vision of practice.
